Cheminova’s report on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for 2008 has been published concurrently with Auriga’s annual report
According to the report:
- Cheminova has accelerated the phase-out of toxic products
In Colombia, Argentina, Cuba and India, a number of WHO class I products have been phased out earlier than promised. These are the insecticides methamidophos, methyl parathion and phorate which, according to plan, were not due to be phased out until the end of 2009.
- Using hydrogen as a source of energy has reduced CO2 emissions by 5,200 tonnes
Cheminova’s new plant for using hydrogen waste has been operating as intended, and the hydrogen has made it possible to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels in the form of natural gas by approx. 10 per cent.
- A modern chemical incineration plant has been commissioned in India
At Cheminova’s factory in India, the newly built incineration plant ensures that solid, liquid and gaseous chemical waste is destroyed at high temperatures and in compliance with the most recent standards for handling this type of waste.
- Cheminova has revised its mission, vision and values
A modernised set of values is being rolled out throughout Cheminova’s global organisation, so that all employees will be involved in the process of transforming the values into action. Cheminova’s mission is: We help improve quality of life for the world’s population by supplying products that help farmers increase yields and quality of crops to satisfy the global demand for food, feed, fibre and energy.
Like last year, this year’s CSR report carries an independent auditor’s statement.
