Efficient production to continue
The number of employees will be maintained at the same level.
Even though Cheminova expects a 50 per cent increase in revenue to 6 billion Danish kroner in 2010, production at the factory on Rønland will not increase noticeably.
– In the coming years, production of our old organophosphorous products will stagnate, and we have stopped production of the preservative potassium sorbate. This move is being counterbalanced by an increase in the production of a number of new products, among other things at the pyrethroid plant, gamma-cyhalothrin, and at the new multi-plant where potassium sorbate was previously produced. We expect the production of glyphosate to remain the same in the coming years, so that all in all we will be able to maintain the same workforce in production, Bjørn Albinus states.
In addition to production as such, the production department also engages in environmental management, safety and quality as well as logistics, construction, maintenance and purchasing functions.

In addition to a stagnating production of organophosphates, the production department
sees a marked increase in the production of a number of new products at the pyrethroid
and multi-plants. Optimising production is a strong focus point.
Improved competitiveness
In the coming years, the production department on Rønland must continue to adapt and optimise its existing production to ensure that Cheminova remains among the world’s most cost-efficient manufacturers.
Running in a number of new products will be an important process during the plan period.
– We have just trained an additional 48 process operators to strengthen this core competence among our employees. Nineteen of our current operators from the production plants have started the training this year, says Bjørn Albinus.
– We are making substantial investments in the conversion of the sorbate plant, and with so many new products, the purchasing department must handle a number of new raw ingredients. Cheminova will continue to give a high priority to environmental concerns, safety and quality. Bjørn Albinus also points out that as more and more products are being manufactured away from Rønland, quality assurance and inspection of subcontractors will be another important assignment for the department.
Moreover, the EU’s new chemicals policy, REACH, will be implemented by Cheminova during the plan period, Bjørn Albinus concludes.
